   ocr: CLINICAL THERMOMETER A clinical thermometer records a patient's body temperature. The mercury in the bulb expands and forces its way through the narrow constriction. When the thermometer MERCURY 1S read, the constriction prevents the cooling mercury from returning to the bulb. The thermometer shows CONSTRICTION the patient's temperature until the BULB mercury is shaken back down.
